Take Advantage of YouTube’s Tools

YouTube is one of the most powerful tools available for businesses, organizations, and content creators in general. Whether you have a short film that you want people to see or a new product you are trying to advertise, uploading a video on YouTube is a great way to ensure as many people as possible have a chance to see it. However, in most cases, simply uploading a video to YouTube and being done with it isn’t enough, especially if the video is related to your business. The site gives you several tools that allow you to get more out of your videos, and you should be taking advantage of them.

Chief among these is the ability to add annotations to your video. Think of video annotations as hyperlinks that you can place within your video as specific points. For example, maybe the end of your video has a plug for your website. Don’t just throw up the URL and expect people to type it in themselves. You can actually turn the URL, or any area of your video, into a clickable link. This will allow people to easily move from your video to other relevant content.

Checking in with the comments is also a great idea. You can interact with fans and customers, and quickly gauge their reaction to your content. They may even have questions that you can answer or engage in interesting discussions that you will want to check out.

Another tool that YouTube provides is analytics. These are essentially stats that keep track of a number of things regarding how people are interacting with your videos. For example, you can see at a glance how long people watch your videos for, and identify whether or not there is a certain point where they lose interest and stop watching.

These tools and others combine to make YouTube even more useful than it already is. Make sure you check them out the next time you upload a video to the site!
